About Me
Hi, my name is Kaysar and I’m a tutor at Telios Tutors. My speciality is in tutoring in Biology, Geography and Chemistry from GCSE to A level.
Having studied medicine at Medical School myself. I am well accustomed to the rigorous medicine application process. Therefore, I do also offer tutoring and support in medical and dental school applications.
This also includes preparation for interviews, personal statements and UCAT examinations.
My Method
Mainly, I use a student-centred approach in my lessons, ensuring that my students have a full and thorough understanding. Difficult concepts might take some students longer than others to grasp.
Through my experience, I have found that building such strong foundations of knowledge really does help my students understand every aspect of the concepts.
I then pair this solid foundation with techniques. By giving the best advice on how to apply this knowledge in exam questions to really ensure that my students are getting the top A/A* grades.
I believe that learning and success in exams come under 3 main stages: understanding, memorisation and application.
Teaching Experience
In my lessons, I use this base to make sure my students are ready to tackle any exam question. I also emphasise the use of scientifically proven ways to study and learn.
Such as the incorporation of active recall and spaced repetition into my lessons, such techniques which have helped me achieve straight As at GCSE and A level as well as the first decile in medical school.
In a typical lesson with a student, I always start the session with questions for the students to find an understanding of their current knowledge based on that topic.
I then follow a lesson plan around the knowledge that the student already has. Filling in the blanks and answering questions as we go along. I then finish the lesson with example questions to further apply and consolidate that concept.
How I Spend my Free Time
When I am not tutoring or at the hospital, in my spare time I love to explore the beaches and surf the waves around Cornwall where I live. I really do find that a sunset surf is the best way to destress after a long day of working and helping students.
I always make sure to go above and beyond for my students, ensuring that my students go above and beyond their target grades.
