When I was told that without teachers, other professions wouldn’t exist, I immediately realised how crucial their job was in enabling society to function. The best moments of my own school-life were of finally understanding challenging concepts, especially in Maths. I acknowledged the incredible teachers whose instruction had been so crucial to me. This inspired me to follow the same path in my own teaching career.
Teaching is a remarkable vocation which truly makes an impact on future generations. I opted to specialise in Mathematics because of how thought-provoking the subject is. I love how the same solution can be achieved through various routes. Moreover, its application to the real world fascinates me. One example I have never forgotten is when I was taught that the ‘Fosbury Flop’ was the best way to succeed in high jump due to one’s centre of mass coming out of the body and acting below the bar.
My involvement in mentoring students with their GCSEs has been incredibly rewarding. I understand the importance of teaching in a patient and calm manner. Doing this increases student focus and reduces stress. I have also taught group Science and English at KS3. This taught me the importance of multitasking and distributing my attention equally amongst the students. I adopt diverse teaching strategies to suit whether the students were predominantly kinaesthetic, auditory or visual learners.
I have trained in a variety of teaching styles. These employ various techniques to stimulate and engage students with difficult concepts. It is important to communicate with pupils in an encouraging and constructive way.
I have an organised and optimistic approach as a Private Maths Tutor. I apply innovative and systematic approaches to develop Mathematical understanding. Focusing on the physical and mental well-being of adolescents is also something I am genuinely passionate about. I have a holistic approach to learning. My greatest wish is to ensure that education is accessible to everyone.
