English tutor 1 to 1 private tuition in English London and Online Alex

Private English Tutor Alex

Description: Alex is a private English tutor of almost 10 years and has devoted thousands of hours to private home tuition and online tuition. His students have varied from those within London to those living abroad. Here is a snippet of his tutor profile.

As a professional writer, published author and actor, I have always felt passionate for English in communication, whether creatively or for academic purposes. I feel my skills in these areas further enhance my teaching abilities as an English tutor.

I graduated from Roehampton University with a degree in Creative Writing with Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies. Later, I completed my CELTA degree at London’s International House.

Since obtaining my CELTA degree, I have worked in a number of independent and private study centres. I have been the longest serving English teacher in London International Study Centre in Tolworth.

My teaching career lasted for five years. During this time I helped over a thousand students improve their general English, improve their IELTs grade, gain entry into some of the country’s top universities and acted an examination moderator for IGCSE English. Working as a 1 to 1 English tutor allows me to journey with my students on a much deeper level than within a classroom environment.

Outside of Tutoring

Outside of the classroom I am a writer, poet and actor and have performed across the UK at Universities, venues and music festivals including The Roundhouse, Camden, The Southbank, Trafalgar Square, Latitude, Camp Bestival, Secret Garden Party and many others.

My passion for writing and the English language goes beyond the classroom and I believe that this creativity and enthusiasm flows into my classes and interaction with my students.

One of my plays ‘Our Friends, The Enemy’ went on two UK tours and will be premiering in New York later this year.

I feel that in almost 10 years of teaching I have gained a lot of experience from the different schools and circumstances of teaching I have faced. I feel that I have grown into a confident, creative and considerate teacher, paying particular attention to students needs and aiming to form good relationships with all students. I also feel that my writing outside of the classroom has helped me in gaining confidence in the classroom.
