I have been tutoring children aged 6-16. My subjects include English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I have taught remotely for groups of children and also privately for one-to-one lessons.
The students I have worked with have been of varying levels of skill and ability. Some were severely lacking confidence in the subject and some simply needed to consolidate their already extensive knowledge. This meant I had to be very flexible and adapt lesson plans to meet individual students’ needs. I have also worked on holiday courses which required writing daily reports on a child’s progress, alongside overseeing and marking 11+ mock exams and frequent progress tests.
I strive to make lessons engaging by tailoring them to the student’s individual interests. By paying attention to each student and understanding that each one is unique, I find the best methods to ensure their attainment. One example of this is finding comprehension activities which relate specifically to their hobbies.
My role as a teacher also involves liaising frequently with parents and carers, giving them feedback and working closely with them to ensure that their child is receiving the correct support. I believe in clear and comprehensive communication at all times. This creates a three-dimensional portrait of the students I work with, allowing me to structure each lesson perfectly to their needs.
