50,000 children are being home schooled in the UK and this figure is increasing by 80 per cent every year.
To many parents, the idea of home schooling their children may seem daunting, but most parents’ apprehension is due to the obscurity of the concept and how home education works. There are many assumptions and misconceptions surrounding it. Contrary to popular belief, parents do not need to be a teacher or have any formal teaching experience to homeschool their child. It is perfectly legal to home school your child, and in fact you do not have to adhere to the National Curriculum. Home educators come from all social, educational, economic and cultural backgrounds.
Due to its flexibility, parents who home school their children have a choice as to what, when, where and how their children learn. Children do not necessarily have to undergo examinations, although they can do so privately. They also do not have to perform school work during the conventional school hours. The main reasons more parents are choosing to homeschool their children are due to them wanting to have more control over their childrens’ education and how they are being taught. Children can take advantage of the efficiency of one to one tuition, allowing them to spend more time on other activities and passions they may have.
Many parents are now hiring private tutors to home school their children. Currently, Teleios Tutors have students who are being homeschooled, including most recently a ten year old girl who has recently come from Russia to be homeschooled in the UK. We also have students who have tuition on a “homestay” basis, meaning they stay with host families and tutors conduct lessons in these homes. Many students fly to the UK from overseas to have lessons with our private tutors. Our tutors offer homeschooling that is adapted and catered to your lifestyle preferences, and we offer full support every step of the way.
