I have been educated up to PhD level in Information Security at Royal Holloway specialising in quantum computing and have a 1st class honours in BSc Computer Science. Over the course of my education I have undertaken a number of extra-curricular activities. This has lead me to gain a wealth of experience both personally and professionally. These experiences have allowed me to assist in the delivery of university courses, as well as take part in events, conferences and exhibits for the university. I have also displayed my own work in this manner and participated at a science fair.
In my spare time, I can often be found buried amongst something technical. As a self-certified ”techie” I love nothing more than being able to be presented with a situation or piece of software that I can spend hours tinkering away at. It is satisfying to find a solution that best suits my needs.
Teaching Experience
Over the years of my academic career I have managed to amass a number of hours dedicated to teaching. Primarily on the delivery of undergraduate course content for computer science, including introduction to programming courses. Since then I have managed to diversify my clientele and have taught students ranging from primary school students to adults. This has enabled me to become more adaptable to suit my clients needs.
I pride myself on a wide knowledge of the field allowing me to provide teaching of numerous programming languages including Python, Java, and JavaScript. I also cover traditional computer science topics (searching, sorting etc.). During my sessions I like to focus on fundamentals. This plays a pivotal role in allowing students to learn in their own time as well as during our sessions.
In order to keep my sessions engaging I incorporate a wide variety of techniques. Such as whiteboarding exercises, pre-recorded video content, collaborative coding exercises and quizzes. This ensures full understanding and retention of content before moving onto newer topics.
