Education Consultancy: A Guide For Parents

Choosing the right educational path for your child involves more than selecting a school with strong academic results and reputation. The right environment should reflect their ability, personality, learning needs and long-term opportunity potential for your child.

Our education consultancy service provides families with expert, independent guidance at key stages of their child’s education – from formal academic assessment and school selection to entrance preparation, SEN support and ongoing educational planning.

Academic Assessments

For parents considering a change of school, preparing for selective entry or simply wanting a clearer picture of their child’s academic position, we can arrange a comprehensive assessment with one of our expert education consultants.

Following the assessment, families receive a detailed written report covering:

Academic attainment – how your child is performing in relation to their peers and their own stage of development, including key strengths and areas requiring further support.

Private school readiness – an indication of how your child may perform if sitting entrance assessments now, which schools may represent realistic aspirations, and the level of preparation that may be required.

The assessment usually includes abridged, age-appropriate private school papers in English, Mathematics and Reasoning, completed partly independently and partly with the consultant during an online session.

This allows us to assess not only answers on a page, but also how a child listens, responds to instruction, approaches unfamiliar problems and adapts when given feedback.

A separate interview helps us understand the child more personally – an important consideration when advising on school fit, confidence and wellbeing, rather than focusing on academic scores alone.

Independent & Boarding School Placement

Our consultants can support families throughout the admissions process, from creating an appropriate shortlist to entrance assessments, interviews and academic preparation.

We have supported families navigating admissions for leading independent schools including Eton College, Harrow School, Sevenoaks School, Westminster School, Winchester College, Wycombe Abbey, St Paul’s School, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Brighton College, Wellington College, Tonbridge School and King’s College School Wimbledon.

We consider where a child is genuinely most likely to flourish academically and socially based on your family’s objectives and what you highest values are.

SEN & Individual Learning Needs

For children with special educational needs or individual learning differences, choosing the right school and support structure can be particularly important.

Our consultancy can help families consider a child’s academic profile alongside their learning needs, confidence and wellbeing, and identify where additional specialist tuition, educational support or a different school environment may be beneficial.

Education Consultant Expertise

Our consultants include highly experienced teachers, ex private school headteachers and independent-school admissions specialists.

One of our senior consultants holds BSc (Hons), PGCE and AdDipEd qualifications and brings more than 30 years of educational and senior leadership experience.

He specialises in selective independent-school admissions and preparation for the ISEB Common Pre-Test, CAT4, UKiset, 11+, 13+, Common Entrance, Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

His approach combines admissions strategy with highly targeted preparation, helping children develop accuracy, critical thinking, confidence under time pressure and the techniques required for increasingly digital entrance assessments.
