Description: Branka is an en experienced qualified science teacher, A Level Biology tutor and GCSE Maths tutor. She is personable, proactive and passionate about teaching and pedagogy. Having eight years’ experience working in a large secondary school, she was fortunate enough to evolve their STEM scheme to engage students in and out of the classroom. She always welcomes new and innovative ways to deliver the curriculum and interact with her pupils. Here’s a small snippet of her tutor profile.
Teaching Experience
o Delivering Key Stage 3 curriculum in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Able to offer assistance as an A level chemistry tutor, A level Physics tutor and A level Biology tutor.
o Delivering the Edexcel GCSE course in Core and Additional Science, covering both Chemistry and Biology. The majority of my students achieved either their target grades or above in examinations.
o Delivering the Edexcel GCSE Triple Science course in Biology which is my specialism, where the majority of my students were successful and achieved either their target grade or above.
o Delivering the OCR Biology AS level course. The majority of my students achieved either their target grade or above in examinations. I regularly did A level cover and was due to start teaching the course.
o Delivering the OCR GCSE and BTEC Course to year 12 and 13 students. Creating the all resources for the new level 5 accreditation and examinations.
o Supporting students during after school revision sessions. This included a specialist A to A* group, to raise top end attainment.
o The development and delivery of the school’s ‘Future Medics’ Scheme which is aimed at students interested in studying Medicine within the sixth form and lower down in the school.
o I have organised and presented several annual events in collaboration with partner schools, particular examples are an Ethics conference and a UKCAT and BMAT training course. I also collaborated with local Medical Schools to help students with interview techniques.
o Form tutor from year 7 through to year 13. As year 13 form tutor I have several years’ experience in reference writing for university applications.
o Year 10 support tutor, role includes using software to track year data and target student intervention.
o STEM coordinator, for sixth form students. Through this role I developed a speaker programme for students in the sixth form which included Researchers of all disciplines from local University campuses, Graduate students, Engineers and professionals from Science and Geophysics industries.
o I also encouraged and guided year 12 students to apply for the prestigious Nuffield Research placements. I gave students the opportunity to deliver an incredibly successful series of Science Christmas lectures to primary school students and their parents, through securing funding with the Royal Society of Chemistry.
o Using Excel, SISRA Analytics and SIMs to track student progress and implement intervention. I am also experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office and Moodle.
