David S

I hold a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature and an MSc in Political Communication, and am therefore academically grounded in the subjects that I teach. My English language teaching is further enhanced by CELTA and TEFL qualifications, alongside specialising training in Business English (BE), English for Young Learners (EYL), and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Before moving into education, I spent 10 years in management positions at Porsche AG, Prada and LVMH, and am currently a civil servant working at the heart of the UK government in Whitehall. Having spent several years living and working abroad I have now settled in Greenwich, London.

With five years dedicated to online tutoring, I’ve successfully delivered thousands of lessons to diverse students worldwide and have clocked up over 1,500 hours in virtual classrooms (500+ with Telios). My teaching background also includes experience in overseas language schools. Now based in London, I specialise in GCSE-level English Language, English Literature, and History (both Modern and Ancient), helping students excel in these core subjects. In recent years I have been largely focused on the AQA and IGCSE English and History syllabuses, and am now extremely familiar with the core content and exam criteria for each. Students often begin with a tutor in subjects they struggle with or find uninteresting, I try to bring my own curiosity to lessons and show students why the topic they are studying is of importance, rather than simply push them to remember lists. Some of them even end up admiring William Shakespeare as much as I do -and I’m a ‘Best Friend’ Member at the Globe!
