Teaching Experience

I am an experienced English educator, qualified teacher and academic mentor with over 15 years of international teaching experience across the UK, China, Togo and Budapest. I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in English Literature and Creative Writing, a Distinction-level Master’s degree in Creative Writing with English Literature, QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a CELTA qualification.

I specialise in English Language, English Literature, Creative Writing and academic writing, supporting students from KS3 to KS5, as well as preparing students for 11+, 13+, 16+ entrance examinations, IELTS and competitive independent school admissions.

Throughout my career, I have supported students from over sixty nationalities and helped pupils achieve outstanding academic progress. My students have successfully gained places at leading schools including Eton, Dulwich College, Westminster, Wycombe Abbey and Cheltenham Ladies’ College, among others.

I have also worked as an examiner for CAIE IGCSE and AS Level and Pearson Edexcel GCSE and IGCSE, giving me a detailed understanding of examination requirements across a range of exam boards, including AQA, OCR, Eduqas, WJEC and Oxford AQA. Additionally, I have contributed as an advisor to official Cambridge Assessment English textbooks published by HarperCollins.

My teaching approach combines academic rigour with encouragement and mentorship. I focus not only on improving grades, but also on developing students’ confidence, creativity, critical thinking and independence. Every programme is tailored to the individual, helping students become more effective communicators and enthusiastic learners.

Alongside teaching, I have experience in academic leadership as a Head of Department, mentoring Oxbridge applicants and developing curriculum programmes. I am also a freelance writer and have designed and delivered creative writing and literature courses for adult learners.
