I have a Masters Degree in Education Studies which has opened more doors to innovative and effective methods of teaching and learning. Having attended a multitude of courses, training programmes and conferences throughout my career, I remain fully engaged with the student’s perspective and therefore of the attributes required to constitute successful delivery.
Simply put, my lessons are never boring or dull! My ethos when working with both adults and children is one of mutual support and respect and with the understanding that every student is different. I have a friendly, caring and very positive nature and have the ability to motivate students and inspire the confidence in them to achieve to their full potential, throughout their studies and in their exams.
I have sixteen years’ teaching experience across all key stages. Throughout my career I have worked in a variety of schools including rural, city and independent and as a personal tutor to both adults and children, including supporting students with the English component of the 11+ common entrance examinations.
My teaching includes leading a funded, eighteen month project tutoring students with specific learning difficulties and those in need of intervention. The project itself had a significant effect on the levels of the pupils involved which positively impacted on all of their subjects.
I have also worked as a SATs and GCSE examiner for English Language, English Literature and Media Studies, which has further contributed to my success in helping students attain the grades they aspire to achieve. I also have experience and additional training in teaching students with specific learning and behavioural difficulties as well as students who speak English as an additional language.
