Student of the Week Sophie

Student of the Week Sophie

Every week, we honour and show recognition to a student who has demonstrated excellence. This week, we want to acknowledge Sophie, for her GCSE achievement!

This week we have received the wonderful news that Sophie has surpassed the predicted grade given by her school teacher! This is the result of the hard work and effort Sophie has put into her studies and revision. In her private lessons with tutor Sevda, Sophie has applied herself to every task and fully deserves our award of Student of the Week!

Predicted grades are very important for several reasons; not only do they inform institutions of Higher Education what your final grade is likely to be, but they also provide expectations of what it is believed a student is capable of achieving.

However, a predicted grade which does not necessarily reflect a student’s true potential can have negative repercussions. There are many reasons why the school environment might not be bringing out the best in a student. Factors such as peer influence and teaching approaches, for example, can change the way students receive and retain important information. Because of this, it is important that students understand that predicted grades do not define them. With the right training and application, there is in fact no limit to what a student can achieve.

During her private English lessons, Sophie was able to analyse and work on the areas which needed the most attention. She studied a range of topics covered in her GCSE syllabus and trained in verbal reasoning and expression.

Sophie was willing to work hard to improve on her areas of weakness. She was able to form a better understanding of the examination process with the guidance from her tutor. Sophie not only went beyond her school teacher’s expectations but also her own. It takes a lot of determination to break down your perceived limitations.

Congratulations Sophie! You are an inspiration to everyone at Telios!
