I am a multi-skilled, a second place toastmaster’s speech contest winner person whose energy and enthusiasm leaves a lasting impression on people. I am and a motivated individual whose various experiences with young people e.g. Prince’s Trust Team Programme, Teaching English in Thailand, Camp America and tutoring to students outside of mainstream education has enabled me to act as a pillar of influence in developing the unexplored talents of young people, hence assisting them to adopt a more authentic state of communicating.

Over a year’s experience working with and assisting young people through a diverse range of roles i.e. tutor, USA camp counsellor and English teacher in Thailand.

Duties as a tutor:

• Using a range of techniques so that students retain more information e.g. PowerPoint, video and music used to strengthen the desired theme of my lessons
• Educating students in accordance with the school’s ethos of learning through creativity
• Teaching specific programmes of study and where appropriate deliver qualifications
• Improving students’ skills in literacy and/or numeracy and build their confidence through creative and academic learning
• Creating detailed, interesting and relevant lesson plans and schemes of work for each student or class.
• Maintaining daily contact with the Education Support Officer or Head of Centre through e-mail, text and/or telephone regarding a student’s attendance and progress

Duties as a USA camp counsellor:

• Living in a cabin taken up the role of a teacher, leader, inspirer, nurturer and disciplinarian to supervise all aspect cabin life to campers/younger staff. E.g. behaviour management/ health and safety procedures and hygienic requirements for the cabin and wayside (bathroom).
• Supervising campers during all aspects of daily camp life in accordance to the guidelines proposed from Brantwood: sports, team building activities, completing challenge binders, daily cabin inspections to monitor its cleanliness
• Providing oral/written communication of the campers welfare of campers at assigned meetings and at the conclusion of each session
• Successfully motivating my campers to participate in challenging aspects of camp by embodying an anchor of courage: zip lining, ropes course, conflict management, talent show participation, delivering motivational speeches.

Duties as an English teacher in Thailand:

• Executing the delivery of lesson plans effectively whilst communicating the work set to students
• Effectively cooperated with the teacher assistant to simplify explanations to students in Thai
• Ensuring working materials were prepared in advance to accommodate the different academic levels of students
• Managing the behaviour of pupils while they undertook set work to ensure a positive learning environment
• Helping pupils improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills via individual and group sessions
