Description: Professional writer, teacher, tutor and actor Alex G shares a small snippet of his tutor profile.
I have been teaching English Language for 8 years. As a professional writer and actor, I have always felt passionate for English in communication, whether creatively or for academic purposes.
I have a degree in Creative Writing with Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies and later completed my CELTA degree at London International House. Since obtaining my CELTA degree I have worked in a number of independent and private study centres, and am the longest serving English teacher at London International Study Centre in Tolworth, having taught there for five years. During this time I have helped over a thousand students improve their general English, improve their IELTs, gain entry into some of the country’s top universities and acted as an examination moderator for IGCSE English.
Outside of the classroom I am a writer, poet and actor and have performed across the UK at Universities, venues and music festivals including The Roundhouse, Camden, The Southbank, Trafalgar Square, Latitude, Camp Bestival, Secret Garden Party and many others.
My passion for writing and the English language goes beyond the classroom and I believe that this creativity and enthusiasm flows into my classes and interaction with the students.
I feel that in my 8 years teaching I have gained a lot of experience from the different schools and circumstances of teaching I have faced. I feel that I have grown into a confident, creative and considerate teacher, paying particular attention to students needs and aiming to form good relationships with all students. I also feel that my writing outside of the classroom has helped me in gaining confidence in the classroom.
