Description: Sevda is a private tutor who has excellent academic credentials. She has achieved A’s in both English Literature and English Language at GCSE and A Level, my paper is now used as an exemplar copy by AQA as she received full marks. Furthermore, she was awarded 11 grade A’s/A’s at GCSE including Maths, English Literature and Language, Sciences, History, Geography and Religious studies.
After secondary school, I studied a BA (Hons) in English Language at Newcastle University, I specialised in linguistics: phonology, semantics, morphosyntax, grammar etc.
I also completed modules in child/second language acquisition and development, Old English Grammar and Computer Coding. I wrote my dissertation on whether ‘risk factors associated with low household income effect child language development’ – I was awarded 82% for my paper.
I later graduated with an Upper Second Class Honours (2:1/ 69%).
Currently, I’m completing a MA in Broadcast journalism at Cardiff University (JOMEC) and have been awarded the Sir David Nicholas Journalism Scholarship for my work. This award was presented to me by BBC’s Editorial Director, Kamal Ahmed.
During my time working as a News broadcast journalist, I’ve been successful in gathering exclusive stories and interviews which centralise around challenging topics often overlooked in mainstream media.
My skills include: TV & Radio journalism (presenting and producing), Data journalism (statistics), Media Law, Public Administration and I have an in-depth understanding of the Adobe Creative Cloud Software (Premier Pro, Photoshop, Audition etc.).
I also frequently mentor students at my ex-secondary school, helping them realise their full potential both academically and personally.
I genuinely love teaching, as I was also once very shy and lacked self-confidence both personally and in my studies. However, when I realised my true potential I then began to achieve and exceed all my targets which is why I want to help other students do the same!
I have been tutoring both English Language (GCSE), Literature (GCSE), Biology and Chemistry (GCSE) for over four years. Throughout this time, I’ve managed to help many students exceed their targets and show them that English and science can be both fun and exciting!
I also have experience with working with children who lack self-confidence, I genuinely believe that ANY child can go above and beyond their potential with the help of a patient, understanding and motivational teacher.
In 2017, I taught in Malaysia for a month as an English Teacher, during this time I worked with primary school children helping them develop their oral and written English skills.
