Description: Nicola is a Private Online English Tutor
From a young age, I have been an inquisitive and motivated individual. My favourite subjects are English, Maths and History. I went on to study these subjects at A-Level and gained an A grade in each. From there, I went on to study Law at the University of Manchester, where I graduated with a First Class degree.
Recently, I completed my Masters in Law with a Distinction. While I studied, I also worked part-time, which took me out of a purely academic environment and taught me a lot of crucial interpersonal skills and practical thinking.
I have a passion for helping people and teaching others. Throughout my academic career, I set up study groups in order to encourage fellow students to learn from and motivate each other. I have also taken on roles that involved explaining complex concepts to others. Examples of this include giving legal advice to clients and hosting presentations to better inform people on their general legal rights.
Further, I have learned much from my grandma, who moved from England to Hong Kong and taught English for over 20 years. My grandma taught people of all ages. I often helped to create different lessons, such as fun games to keep younger children involved and attentive. Furthermore, I was a pen-pal to several of her students. This allowed them to practice their English in a more casual environment.
I have been able to use my skills learned to help my younger sibling with schoolwork when they struggled. It has become clear that practising patience and positive reinforcement is always the best way to encourage learning. I am excited to now to be in a strong position to help other students.
