Description: Meghan is English Literature and English Language tutor and is studying towards an English Literature degree from the University of Warwick. Here is a snippet of her tutor profile.
My knowledge of English Literature is wide and varied. This is because it is something I am extremely passionate about. I have a strong academic transcript, and I will be graduating from the University of Warwick with a first in English Literature.
During my undergraduate degree, I have been awarded some of the highest marks in my year for my close reading and essay writing skills. I am highly confident in grammar, sentence syntax, and structuring pieces of work.
Often, these are areas students need help with. My lessons will always be structured around the student and their preferred teaching method. Consequently, I feel confident I will be able to aid students to submit the best piece of work they can.
I am Irish and I moved over to England during my GCSE year. Despite the sudden move and the new schooling system, I had a great tutor and her guidance helped me to gain knowledge and confidence. Due to this experience, I understand the power a great tutor can have on a students’ morale and belief in their ability.
Teaching Experience
During my undergraduate degree I was social secretary and a volunteer for an organisation called Warwick Inspire. The society centred around eradicating educational inequality. This relays my passion for education. I gave presentations and led workshops to Year 7, Year 8, and Year 10 students.
The groups would often be larger than 30 pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed this work and felt rewarded from it. I was commended by teachers at the schools for my ability to explain concepts clearly and engage with students.
Moreover, in September of 2020 I am beginning my Masters in Law. This aligns with my long-term career goal of becoming a lawyer. In this career, the ability to break down complex scenarios into simple advice is necessary.
