I am a private online English and History tutor and earned a First class Master’s degree in History of Art and a Bachelors in English Literature. The tuition I provide can cover KS2, KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I can also cover University material in English Literature, Language and History.
Alongside curriculum-learning and revision, I offer essay-writing sessions,
coursework clinics and UCAS application workshops. In addition to this, my pupils are welcome to contact me in between tutorials via email with study queries and coursework updates.
Creative writing and poetry have always been a passion of mine. In January 2020 I was awarded the Literature Wales Bursary for writers under 25 to aid in writing my first full-length poetry collection. My poetry explores the relationships between people and places through the medium and intersection of the English and Welsh languages.
Students of literature and creative writing should be having fun with the poetic language as a form of quasi-play. Students should be encouraged to be creative with words. By doing so they are able to take ownership of language as a medium to explore their experiences, thoughts, emotions.
In addition to my writing and academic achievements, I am a confident and adventurous individual. At Kendal Mountain Literature Festival I have performed my poetry. In addition to this, I work as a writer and the blog editor for Intrepid, a female-first outdoors magazine.
A full schedule is something I thrive on. This is evidenced in my role as Social Secretary for the University of Bristol Expedition’s Society, student climbing instructor and outdoor adventure leader. As a result of working within large groups of people in tough outdoor environments, I possess excellent teamwork and people management skills.
Teaching is an immensely rewarding job and I love seeing a student’s skills improving and knowing that I have a key role in helping them. Therefore, in my lessons, I always focus on boosting a student’s confidence and allow them to explore ideas with creative freedom.
My lessons are focused on essay writing skills and on collaborative discussions to help students develop their ideas vocally. Above all, teaching allows me to pass my love for the written word to students and encourage in them a lifelong love of English, History and poetry.
