About Me
I am a hard-working, enthusiastic person who really enjoys interacting with people from all backgrounds.
I enjoy travelling and have had the chance to communicate with different cultures and groups.
I’m interested in languages and loved learning French at high school and sixth form and for fun, I decided to learn some basic Chinese Mandarin.
I am very passionate about English literature as I love reading.
Teaching Experience
For many years now I have enjoyed working in the education sector.
From 2016 to 2020 I worked as a Teaching Assistant in a high school and sixth form supporting a range of students with varying additional needs.
Most of the students I supported needed help accessing the curriculum, understanding lesson content and managing their emotions and behaviour.
I would regularly teach a small group of students English skills to help them understand and grasp basic English.
This meant I had to plan and make my own resources to teach them effectively.
I independently adapted resources to make sure they were accessible and appropriate to the level of the students.
As a Teaching Assistant, it was often necessary for me to take the initiative to adapt lesson content for students during lessons.
I would explain in further detail the tasks they had to do and help them carry out the tasks.
English as a Second Language Experience
From 2020 onwards I have worked as an ESL Teacher with an online company called Palfish.
I have taught a variety of age ranges and abilities.
Being an ESL teacher has taught me how to interact with different students and see how I can help to build up their confidence and skills in communicating in English.
I am very conscious of encouraging free talk where the student is exposed to more conversational English and as such develops not only thinking spontaneously in English but also communication skills.
All of this experience in the education sector has given me a huge insight into teaching and has helped me grow in my own skill set.
