I am a third-year MA Integrated Masters student in English Literature and Religious Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
I have been a private tutor for the past two years and have taught a range of students of differing abilities. My primary focus has been teaching GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Religious Studies. Previous students of mine have gone on to study at Queen Mary University and Kings College London.
Working as a self-employed tutor has enabled me to become experienced in time management and syllabus planning. This means I can cover a large amount of content without lowering the quality of teaching. I also pride myself on being professional in all areas of my work, which is crucial for a positive learning environment.
My approach to tutoring focuses on each student being an individual with unique needs. The way I teach English and Religious Studies is fully tailored to the student. It includes a variety of methods to further their understanding and reach academic potential. Nothing is more rewarding for me than having a student understand something they had previously struggled with. I work hard to achieve this with all my students.
My aim is to provide bespoke, content-rich learning. I also firmly believe in a combination of focused and compassionate teaching. I take lessons at the student’s own pace. It is incredibly important to me that I can provide a safe, comfortable working environment. This builds confidence and encourages asking questions. It is this combined approach that I find to be the most effective for my students’ academic progress.
