End of Secondary School Poem by Student Jack

One of our Year 11 students Jack was asked to create an end of year ‘goodbye poem’. Here’s what he beautifully crafted:

Candlelight

The candlelight swayed,
Gently it guided.
It took us from the darkness,
Away from the sadness.

We followed the sky lanterns,
Vivid colours in the nocturne.
You a lithe imagery of light,
And I a reflection of night.

We sent off floating lamps,
As we stood by others on opposite camps.
Numerous mournful cries
Of people reminiscing old ties.

The candle was spent
Leaving only my sole lament.

The incense was lit,
It’s light was still.

I remembered your smile face once more,
The thought dissipates with the scented smoke.

Wishing you every bit of success in college, Jack!
