Deputy Head Teacher and Private Tutor Hayley H

Description: School teacher and deputy headteacher Hayley H’s tutor profile.

I started my teaching career in Drama and Theatre but quickly moved across to English when a position at my training school opened. From here I progressed to working in special schools with a focus on SEBD (now SEMH) students and was promoted within the private company to Head of School in the West Midlands.

Alongside this role I created, built and managed a Virtual School that aimed to target young people who could not engage in physical classrooms and as a support to those attending part-time under 16 college courses. I wrote and implemented all courses myself ranging from ASDAN material to GCSE level examination classes in English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art, ICT and Media to name a few.

While undertaking this role I was elevated to oversee curriculum for the entire company, which involved being up to date with new government regulations, writing curriculum maps and starter lesson plans across all national curriculum subjects and training staff on how to deliver new specifications, as well as thematic learning.

Moving to a linear exam will cause some thought into how to engage students for two years without an exam to mark their progress and to hold on to that information for the maximum time, I believe I have the skills to make that easier for students, in building lessons and resources that will enable students to improve their skills.
