She has helped plenty of students prepare for the 11+ examinations that reside and study at the borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
Kate is also a tutor and student manager at Telios Tutors and is in charge of managing a team of tutors who are collectively supporting one of our students who is temporarily out of school due to suffering from anxiety and panic attacks.
Kate’s calm and approachable nature allows her students to open up to her freely, and thus she is able to connect with them on a level where they feel understood.
It is from this place of understanding in which she is able to get the best out of her students and ultimately – excellent results.
Kate deserves recognition for her genuine love for sharing knowledge and attention to detail. She operates with sincere empathy and loves to celebrate other people’s success. We are very grateful for all your incredible work, Kate!
Here’s a snippet of Kate’s tutor profile:
- Freelance online tutor, living in the Netherlands.
- Six years of full-time classroom and tutoring experience with a wide variety of subjects (Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation, English Language and Literature, History, beginners’ Russian, beginners’ Art History).
- Passion for learning and teaching languages.
- Regular traveller from an international family (my brother lives in Belgium, while I have spent the last three years based in Switzerland before moving to the Netherlands with my Dutch boyfriend).
- Cambridge graduate with experience of preparing students for Oxbridge applications. I thoroughly enjoyed my years at the University of Cambridge, and have spent the last three summers in Oxford, preparing my students for examinations. I relish the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experience of these universities and their application processes to prospective students.
Teaching Experience
For the past three years I have worked as a private homeschool tutor, offering a wide variety of Humanities and Language courses to two bilingual brothers. While travelling the world with them and their family, I maintained a full-time homeschooling schedule as well as strengthening their written and verbal English skills, providing extracurricular enrichment and preparing them for entry to university and international high school.
Tutoring took place mostly in person, but when this was not possible due to travel, I taught them via Skype to ensure their timetable could remain constant.
Prior to this, I spent three years working as a Classics teacher at a private school in Glasgow. I taught Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Studies to secondary school pupils, as well as developing a Latin and Ancient History course for primary school pupils. I also prepared many pupils for Oxbridge applications, as well as running a successful Debating Club.
Throughout my time at university and while studying at school myself, I tutored fellow pupils in Latin, and volunteered at an infant school in my hometown to gain classroom and tutoring experience.
