Description: Karen M is an experienced KS3 / GCSE Science teacher and A Level Chemistry tutor. She has had the privilege of teaching in four extremely high achieving schools. Her experience is in both the state and independent sector for over ten years. Here’s a snippet of her tutor profile.
In addition to my experience in classroom teaching, since 2015 I have also worked as an examiner on Chemistry IGCSE and AS Level papers for Cambridge International Examinations during the exam periods. As part of the standardisation team, I have also worked together with the principle examiner to help write the final mark scheme and standardise marking.
I have privately tutored local students throughout my teaching career and have seen fantastic results. Tutoring allows me to give the individual attention not always possible in the classroom and can help those struggling to catch up and provide appropriate support and guidance.
I have a background in biochemistry and I initially worked within the clinical trials industry. I entered teaching in 2008 and have taught in both the state and independent sector in the UK as well as three years at an international school in the Cayman Islands (following the UK curriculum). I have a real enthusiasm for teaching science and can breakdown and explain difficult concepts clearly. I understand that students learn in different ways and am experienced in designing resources that meet their varying learning needs.
I have been busy designing learning resources for different education companies, carrying out my examining work and tutoring science GCSE to adult students completing distance learning courses.
