Politics and Sociology Tutor Lottie

Description: Tutor Lottie covers a wide range of subjects including Politics, Sociology and History. Here is a snippet of her tutor profile.

I am currently working as a Graduate Assistant at a boarding school in Ascot, assisting in Politics, Economics, History and Maths. I took on this role to gain experience teaching after receiving a first-class degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Birmingham. Following this, I embarked on a Primary PGDE.

Being passionate about education, I enjoy working with the students in a school environment. I hold multiple 1:1 sessions a week in various subjects and I would love to expand this. I have gained a higher level of understanding through my degree by working as a teacher. This has allowed me to apply my knowledge and share my passion with young people and develop valuable skills in teaching. I have an interest in current affairs and I am a keen cricket player. I like to spend my free time either reading up on the news or watching a game of cricket.

Often I prepare one-to-one sessions with worksheets for Year 9s that need extra support with Maths. The key is to break down the topic for them. We have recently covered areas such as area and perimeter, linear equations and Pythagoras’s theorem. I have also lead IGCSE History 1:1 sessions, focusing on exam technique and essay writing with a prepared booklet. By talking through example answers to exam questions we then plan an answer together. The students send me their answers and I give them feedback. There has been considerable improvement in their marks over the weeks.

Additionally, I have provided A Level Politics 1:1 lessons, helping students create succinct and effective revision notes and templates, preparing them for tests and exams.
