Description: Kelly is a Private Online Maths Tutor who has earned a First Class degree in Mathematics. She is a highly motivated tutor with a flexible approach to teaching. Here’s a snippet of her tutor profile.
As a friendly, communicative, and patient tutor, I can relate to and get the best from students studying mathematics at all levels. I am experienced in tutoring Maths and am always willing to go above and beyond to help my students achieve their goals. I adapt my teaching methods for students of different levels and abilities. It is important to provide a tailored experience for every student, as everyone learns differently.
As a Private Online Maths Tutor, I always work to provide engaging and interesting lessons. I get the best out of students by building their confidence in both subject knowledge and the required exam approach. Maths is a challenging subject, so keeping things simple and working step by step helps students click things into place.
Having been homeschooled for part of my early education, I am in a unique position to understand the difficulties many students are currently facing, both in learning at home and returning to school after a long break. Furthermore, being disabled myself, I am in a strong position to understand the needs of chronically ill and disabled students. Outside of tutoring, I am passionate about painting, language learning, and disability advocacy.
During my degree, I tutored several GCSE students each year in the build-up to summer exams. I had to thoroughly understand the GCSE curriculum. This involved creating lesson plans, teaching exam techniques, and adapting to the needs of my students. It required me to have strong communication skills. Understanding how to make complicated topics more manageable was also crucial. I also spent one year tutoring a degree-level mathematics student.
While at university, I was President of the Swing Dancing Society. I ran weekly dance classes for 10-30 students, designing the curriculum, adapting lessons to different skill levels of individuals, and encouraging students to build their confidence.
I am currently a volunteer leader at a local Brownie group for girls aged 7-10. In my role, I work closely with girls with additional needs. I support them and adapt their activities appropriately. I also assist in the delivery of the weekly program, including running weekly games and helping with crafts, cooking, and outdoor pursuits.
