Description: 11+ and KS3 Maths tutor Samarth is a CPD certified online tutor. Here is an outline of his tutor profile.
About Me
My name is Samarth and I am educated to degree level at University College London. I am very proud to have attended this university. It is one of the most established universities in the UK and the world.
I have enjoyed studying maths ever since I can remember. It has given me a sense of satisfaction and has proved to be a very rewarding subject over the last few years. Having achieved top grades at both GCSE and A-Level, I felt maths was definitely the subject for me to study at university.
I have a great passion for the subject. It’s always been a goal of mine to always endeavour to teach with the same enthusiasm and intent with which I learn.
Education is one of the most important things in life. So, I believe that passing on knowledge is one of the noblest things an individual could do. Teaching gives me great job satisfaction since it is always great to see a student grow in confidence.
A tutor can see as their students improve and excel, and at times all it requires is a subtle change in approach to ensure a pupil starts performing to the top of their abilities.
Tutoring at a tuition centre over many years has greatly helped me to grow as an individual. I would now like to take a step forward into teaching on a one-to-one basis.
Teaching Experience
I have a number of years under my belt tutoring students at 11+ and KS3 levels. Previously I have taught at an established 11+ tuition centre in West London.
Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning at 11+ levels was my main responsibility. Maths at KS3 Level and English and Maths at SATs Level was also involved from time to time.
I was assigned different students every week, so it was important for me to adapt to each pupil’s learning needs so I gained plenty of experience in that regard.
I have experience teaching both in-person and online since all sessions were in person before and then moved online during the pandemic.
My main role was preparing students for the 11+ entrance exams for grammar schools. It was important to ensure that they were fully versed with the content and that they felt best prepared to face the tests.
The structure of lessons involved the class teacher explaining the work for the lesson before the class supervisor assigned us, students, to ‘take out’ to go through the previous week’s homework. Any help or queries they had regarding the work I was able to ascertain and resolve.
CPD Certified
I found my time at tuition centres thoroughly rewarding and I was able to develop both professionally and interpersonally. Near the end of my time there, I was offered a promotion to Assistant Supervisor, but I had to turn it down due to university commitments, which underlines my success as an assistant.
I have also completed a CPD course on how to become an online tutor. I have gained the knowledge and skills required to ensure I can be successful in the role of one to one online Maths tutor.
